Carlisle Primary School pledges long-term support for healthy water

Students, teachers and staff of our school will start contributing to the health and conservation of Australia’s limited water resources as initiatives are put in place to implement the Australian Government - Community Water Grants, Schools Water Efficiency Project received by our school.

In order to qualify for the Community Water Grant, the school had to develop an innovative water efficiency project that will provide positive and long-term benefits to the school and the local community. Students and teachers will be involved in monitoring the initiative as it progresses.

Carlisle Primary School received a Community Water Grant for $5 115.00 to implement the Schools Water Efficiency Project.

The first step in implementing the project was a water efficiency audit by carried out by Water & Energy Savers Pty Ltd. Water Efficiency Auditors visited our school to undertake a water efficiency audit. As part of this audit they measured the existing flows and assessed water usage of all water use appliances, calculated the water savings available and also calculated the annual water, sewerage discharge and hot water energy cost savings available.

Water and Energy Savers recommend a range of water efficiency measures that will help save water at our school.
These include:

Once the water efficiency measures are agreed, a plumber will be appointed to supply and install the recommended water efficiency measures and the school and wider community will start to benefit from better use of one of the world’s most valuable resources.

The Community Water Grant is part of the Australian Government’s two billion dollar Water Fund. The grants program is designed to engage people, schools and organisations in saving, re-using and improving water resources with practical on-the-ground projects. A sign board recognising the grant will be erected at the front of the school.
